CHAIRMAN'S REPORT 2021/22

It has been a real pleasure to play a full season without any interruptions! With 137 teams registered, we have maintained our position as one of the leading futsal leagues in the country. This means that over 1,000 boys and girls have been able to enjoy the uniquely powerful benefits of futsal. More touches, more skills, more goals, more saves, more movement, better touch, faster feet and faster brains, to name a few!
Amongst the committee, it has been great to welcome Sophie and Rosanna into the team; bringing youth, playing experience, logistical support and ideas. Furthermore, we have been able to nurture our relationship with Loughborough University and the senior futsal team, providing educational and futsal pathways for talented players. As I have moved into full-time teaching, I will be taking a more advisory role in the committee whilst Paul is nominated to step into the Chairman role to continue to drive our development and connections forward. Paul has put so much into this league in various roles over the years and this will be a positive move forward. Congratulations must go out to Sayed who has been promoted to level 1 Futsal referee & Sophie along with one of our league referees “Will Pattison“ has been Selected to referee on the National programme. The new relationship between The National Futsal Series & BT Sports has seen Paul,Sayed & Sophie referee on live games several times this season which is a credit to the league & we are confident many more of our officials will follow the same pathway.
We remain grateful for the good relationships built with our regular venues; Crown Hills Community College, Beauchamp College, Judgemeadow Community College, Samworth Academy, Ellesmere College and Wreake Valley Academy. In addition, we are pleased to have created additional opportunities at Nottingham and Loughborough University.
On the court, the playing standard continues to improve and we were proud to have representation at the Pokemon National Finals from Quorn FC Girls, PSA and Blaby Bullets. All teams competed well, and although we didn’t get a winner this time, I’m sure that it will happen in future years.
Moving forward we will continue to push our philosophy of participation and quality, with a player centered approach to maximise their enjoyment and development from the game. We are anticipating further growth so please get your applications in ASAP. All the best for the 2022/2023 season. It's going to be a good one!
